With headquarters based in Atlanta, Georgia, and strategically located manufacturing plants (all ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified) throughout the United States, Sto Corp. proudly serves construction needs throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, thus providing smart building solutions with greater access to our customers.
More recently Sto has expanded its operations to Central and South America and include Sto Chile (formally Eurotec Ltda.), Sto Panama, Sto Colombia, Sto Brazil, (previously Argamont Ltda.) and Sto Mexico.

Company History
1835
In the midst of 19th Century rapid industrial expansion a cement and lime factory is established in Weizen, Germany.
1936
Wilhelm Stotmeister, owner of a lime plant in Klergen, expands his operation by acquiring the Weizen plant.
1955
Stotmeister pioneers and introduces revolutionary high-quality synthetic resin wall coatings to the European market.
1962
Founding of Stotmeister & Co. Farben-und Baustoff-KG: the Sto brand is born.
1963
Sto introduces a new and innovative wall system: a cladding that creates an unbroken layer of insulation on the exterior of the building and integrates an acrylic-based resin coating that is extremely durable and long lasting. It is the first Exterior Insulation and Finish System.
1979
Sto expands to the United States to market high-quality, energy-efficient Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems. Sto Energy Conservation, the first U.S. Sto company, is founded in Rutland, Vermont.
1981
Sto helps form the EIMA, the EIFS Industry Members Association, in order to help establish industry-wide standards.
1982
Sto Energy Conservation becomes Sto Industries, a company reflecting a wider market scope and an increasingly broader vision.
1986
North American expansion continues. A branch office opens in California. Sto acquires PowerwallCorp., a Texas company later renamed Sto Concrete Restoration Division.
1987
Sto Industries Canada Inc. is established on September 21, 1987 in Toronto.
1987
National product sales reach unprecedented levels with help from the Sto Research Center. Sto moves headquarters to and builds a major manufacturing facility in Atlanta, Georgia, to efficiently handle the ever-increasing volume and to centralize operations.
1989
The rapid growth of product lines and plants necessitates the formation of Sto Corp., the unifying center of an International Corporation.
1991
Sto opens a plant in Phoenix, Arizona, providing efficient services to the western United States.
2000
Sto Corp. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
2000
Sto Corp. launches StoGuard®, the first liquid-applied air and moisture barrier for use over wood substrates.
2005
Sto introduces Sto EmeraldCoat®, a spray-on air and moisture barrier designed for use under stucco and other non-adhesive claddings.
2005
Sto launches StoColor® Lotusan®, a revolutionary new coating with Lotus-Effect® Technology, the patented self-cleaning properties.
2009
Sto Corp. achieves ISO 14001:2004 certification of the Environmental Management System for all North American facilities, reinforcing an ongoing commitment to the motto, “Building with Conscience.”
2014
Sto Corp. expands internationally, acquiring locations in Chile and Brazil.
2015
Sto renames the EIFS product line to StoTherm® ci, signifying the thermal and energy-efficient properties of EIFS cladding systems.
2016
Sto Canada Ltd. Opens first sales centre in Canada.
2016
Sto Corp. introduces StoPanel Technology, the most advanced prefabricated wall panel solution in the industry designed to save time, money and deliver exceptional quality.
2018
StoPanel Technology partners with Dri-Design and Swiss Pearl to add metal panel and fiber cement options to the many aesthetic options already offered with StoPanel prefabricated wall panels.

Sto Corp. achieves ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications for demonstrating superior quality management and an ongoing commitment to the environment for all of its North American facilities.

Sto Corp. launches StoTherm® ci Mineral developed in collaboration with Owens Corning to fuse the acoustic, fire and thermal advantages of mineral wool with the design flexibility and performance of Sto exterior wall systems.

Sto Corp. launches StoSignature™, a blend of color, texture, profiles, and effects utilizing Sto products to create customizable finished surfaces for building exteriors.

Sto Corp. introduces Intelligent Technology + Design (iQ)™ (Sto iQ Technology™) coatings program. The program offers a family of high-performance coatings that deliver improved functionality through innovatively optimized product properties – or simply put, more intelligent technology.

Sto Corp. launches StoColor® Dryonic® exterior coating featuring a unique microtextured surface that allows the surface to dry in record time, depriving algae and fungi of the nutrients they need to grow.

Sto Corp. launches The A.R.T. of Restore™. A complete approach to restoration addressing aesthetics, repair and building transformation.

Sto Corp., released a wide-ranging lineup of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), spanning 12 systems and cover a total of 27 different products.

Sto introduces StoVentec™ Rainscreen® Systems to North America. StoVentec™ Rainscreen® Systems, include StoVentec Glass and StoVentec Render.
2021
Sto launches Sto® Masonry Veneer Engineered Systems (MVES) pairing veneers of natural stone, think brick, cultured stone or ceramic tiles with Sto’s fully engineered EIFS, stucco and cement board systems.

Sto® awarded the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications for superior quality management and sustainable environmental practices for all of its US-based facilities including their corporate office in Atlanta, GA and manufacturing plants in Atlanta, Glendale, Arizona and Rutland, Vermont.

Sto introduces StoVentec® for masonry veneer facades, a new offering in the StoVentec® line of ventilated rainscreen cladding systems to support thin brick masonry veneer cladding.

Sto broadens its offering of facade aesthetics with the introduction of StoCast Brick, StoCast Wood and StoColor Metallic. StoCast, prefabricated resin cast shapes, offer the look and feel of traditional materials in a more sustainable solution that is easy to install. StoColor Metallic offers the ability to create a rich, metal look with either smooth or textured finishes.

Sto announces StoPanel 3DP powered by Branch Technology to deliver unprecedented 3-dimensional design freedom for exterior walls. Branch’s unique Cellular Fabrication (C-Fab) utilizes 3d printing and robotic milling to achieve fully customizable 3D exterior shapes.
2022
Sto launches redesigned website designed to showcase the variety of wall systems and aesthetic solutions available from Sto Corp. The website includes two new tools engineered to assist designers: StoInspire, a visualization tool, and the Aesthetic+Product Selector, matches a desired aesthetic to the product and system solutions offered by Sto.

Sto Panel Technology partners with Kawneer and Pella Windows to develop a fully integrated and tested prefabricated exterior wall and window system.

Sto expands the lineup of finishes with the launch of Stolit HDP, an acrylic-based textured wall finish with enhanced hydrophobic properties.

Sto launches StoGuard Conformable Membrane, a self-adhered membrane used within StoGuard air and water-resistive barrier systems to seal dynamic joints, sheathing joints, substrate transitions, penetrations, and rough openings.

Sto Corp. launches StoSeal STPE Sealant, a premium high-movement sealant designed for use in new opaque wall and building restoration applications. It features excellent adhesion and no-prime performance of silicone combined with the flexibility and compatibility of polyether chemistry.

Sto expands its line of digital tools with the launch of the Sto Wall Selector. This online, self-help tool is designed to assist users in finding the best Sto wall system for a particular project through a series of questions about the project.

Sto Corp. introduces Sto GPS Board, graphite-enhanced, 100% closed-cell expanded polystyrene insulation boards for use in a variety of applications, including StoTherm ci GPS, StoTherm ci MVES and StoPowerwall ci systems. The advantages of Sto GPS Board includes thermal efficiency, allowing for thinner walls with higher R-values, and does not contain fluorocarbon-blowing agents.

Sto breaks ground on a new manufacturing facility located just minutes outside Monterrey, Mexico. The new facility, scheduled for completion in June 2025, initially be dedicated to servicing Mexico and Southern Texas.

Sto continues to leverage a history of technology and innovation with two new solutions: Sto Fireblocking and Sto Strike Defense. Sto Fireblocking, a patent-pending solution designed to meet the latest rigorous fireblocking requirements in the 2022 NYC Building Code for combustible wall assemblies, is designed for use in a variety of Sto’s wall envelope solutions – StoTherm ci GPS/EPS, StoPowerwall ci, and StoVentec Rainscreen systems.
Sto Strike Defense is a fortification option engineered to provide outstanding impact and puncture resistance from blunt or sharp objects and mitigates damages from woodpeckers.
